Party Attire

Xander's party is just a few days away! I'm so excited! Boy, do I have a lot to do! You should see my to do list!

I thought I'd share Xander's party attire with you!

This is his shirt for Saturday! I can't wait for him to wear it!

This is what he'll be wearing at his party on Sunday!

He also has a shirt for this school party on Friday, but I haven't taken a picture of it. I can't wait to see him in his farm attire!

I Can't Believe...

One week from today Xander will be two! Where has the time gone?

Heather Latimer (Frogs & Faeries Photography) took these awesome pics of Xander when he was just over a week old. Heather's work is phenomenal! I will always cherish these pics of my sweet baby X.

A Spring Break Getaway

Al & Xander had two weeks off for Spring Break. Lucky them! Thankfully, I was able to take off a few days!

We headed to Memphis for a little getaway. We had so much fun! I think it's been 10+ years since I was last in Memphis.

The first day, we didn't do much. We arrived a little before dinnertime. We checked in to our hotel (another GREAT Hotwire deal) then headed out for dinner. We ate at Neely's Bar-B-Que. Have you heard of Neely's? The Neely's have a show on the Food Network. The BBQ was really good and it was very reasonably priced.

When we returned to our hotel room, Xander was so excited to see the NCAA Tournament was on TV. He is quite the little basketball player! We had makeshift goals (trash cans) in our room:

The following morning we drove to Tunica. No, it wasn't to gamble! It was to eat. We ate at Paula Deen's restaurant at Harrah's. It was AWESOME! I absolutely LOVE Paule Deen! It was a buffet, so you know Al loved it. When we first got there, the hostess asked if we'd seen Paula. I told her I saw the Paula cutout when we walked in. She meant THE Paula. Paula had been there for a few days. During her stay she was in & out of the restaurant. I could hardly eat because I was on PAULA WATCH. Needless to say, I didn't see her.

X was not too happy about having
his picture taken with Paula.

Next, we headed to the zoo. We went to the zoo in Gulf Shores while on Spring Break last year. That zoo was scary! We just didn't feel safe. The Memphis zoo was great! We loved it. Xander loved the panda bears. He also liked the tigers. We could've stayed there all day!

Welcome to the Memphis Zoo!

I think he would've played on this little bridge all day!

Tigers.

Penguins.

Panda Bear.

Rhinoceros.

Elephants.

Grizzly Bears.

Scary Dogs (that's what Xander calls them).

Taking a break.

Now, that's an egg.

Of course, he had to ride the panda bear.

Time to leave!

On our last day in Memphis, we headed to The Peabody to see the ducks. Let me tell you, Xander behaved so badly. We were those parents. The parents that you're looking at wondering why they don't do something with their child. Before the ducks came down the red carpet, Xander asked if he could run with the ducks. Ha!

The little meanie.

The Duckmaster.

Do you see the ducks?

Wow! What's that? An egg!
Yep, one of the ducks laid an egg!
The Duckmaster said it was the first time
he'd seen that happen.

After The Peabody, we went to the Memphis Botanic Gardens. We had so much fun playing in My Big Backyard! It was such a neat place!

Here are some of my favorite pics from the MBG:

I'm so glad we were able to get away for a few days. Now, the countdown starts for our summer beach trip. I can't wait!

I think I Can...

...Move this mountain!

No really, it's just a big rock behind our neighbor's pool. X is always running over to play on their rocks. He loves them! (These pics were taken a few weeks ago...I don't think I'll ever be able to stay on top of blogging!)

C'mon Daddy, help me out!

Yeah, I made it!

Now, for a little playtime!

This boy has got an arm on him! You should see him throw!

Oh, what was that?

He's actually being still! So not the norm!

8 Weeks "Til...

Xander's birthday! I can't believe my sweet boy will be two in just over eight weeks! It doesn't seem possible.

I'm super excited about Xander's party. I had a few ideas on themes but was having a hard time deciding. I set February 1 as my theme deadline!

I'd thought about a dog party (he loves dogs!): doggie bags for favors, dog bone cookies, tiered cake with dog bones on one layer, weiner dog wrapped around another layer, paw prints on another layer, etc. Then, I saw a "little man" party online. So cute! As cute as it was, would Xander like it? Umm, probably not. So, I thought what would Xander really like...Mickey Mouse! I asked him over & over if he wanted a Mickey party and every time I asked he told me NO! I know he'll like whatever I do. But, I want him to LOVE it!

So, what's the theme?

Oink Neigh Mooo Cock-A-Doodle-Doo...Xander's Turning 2! Yep, it's a farm party! Ok, I admit, I've had the farm theme on my mind for several months. I just wasn't willing to commit.  Xander LOVES cows, pigs, ducks, horses, etc. We sometimes have to take the long way home just so he can see the cows! He goes around the house oinking, mooing & neighing all the time!

Anyway, the little red barns? Got them in the $1 bins at Target. I think they're going to make great little favor bags. Is it just me, or should the $1 bins be called $10 or $20 bins? Seriously. I get sidetracked by the $1 bins everytime I go to Target. I end up spending way too much money on $1 bin stuff!

I just love planning & organizing! You should see my party planning spreadsheet. It's so detailed; favor ideas, possible menu's, decor, places to go, things to order online, cake ideas, pics of invitations, etc. I have deadlines set for everything. I can't help it! I'll post pics over the next two months of the party's progress!

It's Potty Time!

I just love these pictures of Xander on the potty. He'll usually only go potty upstairs. But, he decided to start using his downstairs potty! Woo hoo! I'm glad. We race to get upstairs and often, he doesn't make it.

Over the weekend, he was playing. Suddenly, he started yelling, "Poop! Poop! Poop!" I asked him if he needed to go potty and he said he did. We made it upstairs just in time. He first started using the potty in August (16 months). We haven't pushed it, but we've encouraged it. I think we're going to REALLY start working on it!

Hey Mom, can't I have some privacy?

This picture cracks me up! The other day, when I was taking pics of him,
we did funny faces, sad faces, etc.
Now, when he sees the camera, he starts
posing & making all sorts of faces!
 I love it!
Sad face.

Really sad face.

Sweet face.

Love this face!
