Flashback Friday

It's Friday! I had a hard time coming up with a flashback for this week. I was looking through pictures I've taken recently and I couldn't find anything that would work. Then, I saw the mad dimple! What's the mad dimple? Xander has a super cute little dimple on his left cheek. We call it the mad dimple because when he gets mad his dimple is very noticeable! You can see it when he smiles too. But, it's just so funny when he's mad and that little dimple pops up!

X-Man...The Artist

Xander's creative juices are starting to flow! When I picked him up yesterday his shirt was covered in what looked like markers or paint. You know I don't like to get dirty and I stress over stains & stuff coming out of Xander's clothes. The old Crayola's have come a long way! Thank goodness for WASHABLE markers!

Yesterday Xander brought home his first piece of artwork! I was so excited! What's the best way to keep it from getting damaged? Should I laminate it? I noticed there were two other pieces of artwork he'd done in his classroom. I can't wait to put them on my fridge! Keep in mind, until now I've NEVER had anything on my fridge! No magnets, pictures, nothing. Now my fridge is going to display Xander's little masterpieces! : )

On Saturday, Xander & Al gave me a gift! They had gone shopping the weekend before and while they were out they went to Fired Up and painted a little coaster for me! I was so emotional. I thought it was the sweetest thing. Al said Xander did so good! He said he was so focused and worked so hard. I love my sweet boy!

The first artwork Xander brought home from school!

How sweet is this? I just love it!

Fun Sunday!

On Sunday, we went to Murfreesboro to visit our friends Tanya & Jason and their kids Noah, Sydney & Callie! We always have so much fun with them! Xander had a blast playing with the kids! He got to play with their dog Oliver, he bounced on the trampoline, played with their little kitchen, took a ride in their little Mustang, made homemade ice cream (in a can...we rolled it around...so cool!)....too much to list! He had a ball!

Bounce Bounce Bounce!
(After we got home he bounced all over the place saying "Bounce Bounce!")

Umm, Noah, Syd what am I supposed to be doing?

Oh, ok I think I got it!

Now, what do I do?

Oh yeah, I roll the can!

Syd took Xander for a spin in her Mustang! He loved it! He thought he was so cool!

See ya Mom!

There's a Party in My Tummy...So Yummy!

Do you ever get a song stuck in your head and it just won't go away? Thanks to Xander and the show Yo Gabba Gabba, I can't get the song "There's a Party in My Tummy" out of my head! I catch myself singing it all the time! Xander doesn't really watch TV, other than sports (he loves to watch football, basketball, etc...he even watched the ESPY's with me!), but he really, really likes YGG! We have a lot of episodes DVR'd and guess which one I always select for him to watch? The "Eat" episode so I can sing along!

I'm gonna eat, Yeah
Yummy, yummy
I'm gonna eat, Yeah
Yummy, yummy

Chicken! Yeah!

In my tummy
Party, party, Yeah!
In my tummy

Cheese! Yeah!

In my tummy

Party, party, Yeah!
In my tummy

Juice! Yeah!
In my tummy
Yeah, there's a party in my tummy
So yummy, so yummy

Yeah, there's a party in my tummy
So yummy, so yummy

Now, there's a party in my tummy
So yummy, so yummy, yummy

Carrots! Yeah!
In my tummy, Yeah
Green beans! Yeah!
In my tummy

There's a party in my tummy
So yummy, so yummy

Now there's a party in my tummy
So yummy, so yummy

Formula for Living

If you know me well you know I love to read. I'll read just about anything I can get my hands on. Al picked up the magazine Middle Tennessee Sports when we were walking by Dick's Sporting Goods the other day. I was reading it on our way home and read a really great article Rudy Kalis wrote about Jimmy Gentry. Jimmy Gentry coached football for 63 years. Now, semi-retired, he shared with Rudy his formula for living:

  • The five most important words: "I am proud of you."
  • The four most important words: "May I help you."
  • The three most important words: "I love you."
  • The two most important words: "Thank you."
  • The most important word: "We" not I can do it together.
Isn't that so true? The article also included the following:

We are all shaped by the events of our lives. It's the lessons we learn from those experiences, good and bad, that define who we are and the legacy we pass on to others.

I agree completely.

If you get a chance to pick up the magazine (it's free!), read the entire article. It's a good one!

My camera is still not working! But, it should be on Friday (I hope!). I miss it so badly! I feel like I've missed so much over the last few days! I've tried using the video camera to take pics and it's just not up to par!

You'd Think It's A Holiday

At our house, this time of year, it is like a holiday! I can't remember when I started the back-to-school basket, but I know it's been since very early in our marriage. I love giving gifts. It doesn't matter the occasion, I just love coming up with gift ideas, preparing gifts, etc.

The basket started when it was time for Al to get ready for the new school year to start. He'd mention stuff that he needed; new shoes, pants, ties, school supplies, just whatever. It's kind of like a student starting the new school year, I figured teacher's should get new stuff too! What started out as something small has turned in to a tradition at the Bohannon house!

At first, I didn't really think Al cared about the back-to-school basket. Then, one year, I didn't do a basket. I just bought him stuff here & there and gave it to him as I got it. I overhead him telling Zolie he didn't get a basket! What? He still got all of the stuff, just not in a basket and not all at once! Now, Al starts dropping hints, "So, when am I going to get my basket?"

Last year, when Xander came along, guess what? He got a basket too! This year, Al was a little concerned the X-Man was going to get more than him! Ha!

This year I'm running behind on their baskets! I wanted to give them their baskets last weekend but I didn't have everything I needed. Then, yesterday, when I was ready my camera died! I couldn't believe it! So, I gave them their baskets today and used my video camera to take pics (the quality of these pics is not good...I hope I can figure out what's wrong with my camera SOON!). I think they were pretty happy with their baskets!

I'm so excited about my back-to-school basket!

Here they are! The 2010 back-to-school baskets!

Daddy, what's in your basket?

Hey Xander, I bet you didn't get any candy in your basket!

Hmm, let me see what I can get...

Wow, this is great!
